Remapping service

ECU remapping for BMW, MINI and other vehicles

Engine management optimisation for BMW, MINI and, on request, other vehicles: every job starts with a check of the vehicle and a file developed for that engine.

The figures are indicative and refer to a vehicle in good condition: the result depends on the engine, software and condition of the vehicle and is assessed in the workshop before the work.

What changes

A calibration suited to the way you drive

Factory maps must work in very different markets, climates and conditions of use. Remapping adapts some engine parameters to the real use of the vehicle, when its condition allows it.

  • Response and torque

It can make the throttle response sharper and the torque delivery fuller at everyday engine speeds. How much depends on the engine.

  • Driveability and consumption

Smoother power delivery can make driving more relaxed. We do not promise percentages on consumption: it depends on route, load and driving style.

  • Tailor-made file

We do not use generic maps: the file is adapted to the vehicle after checking its condition.

  • Technical limits respected

We assess the margins of the components, such as boost, temperatures and injection pressure, and we do not proceed if there are problems to fix first.

How we work

Four steps, one at a time

We do not load generic files: every job starts from the vehicle in front of us.

  1. 1

    Preliminary check

Reading the errors and checking the general condition: filters, spark plugs, fuel system, clutch and transmission. Any problems must be fixed first.

  2. 2

    Data reading

Where needed we record the vehicle's parameters, such as boost pressure, temperatures and air flow.

  3. 3

    File development

The calibration file is modified starting from the control unit's original software, with parameters suited to that engine.

  4. 4

    Testing and delivery

Final check of the values and road test. When technically possible we keep the original file so it can be restored.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most often

When technically possible we keep the original ECU file, so you can consider restoring the factory configuration.

  • Which vehicles do you work on?

Our main specialisation is BMW and MINI. Remapping can also be assessed on other cars, motorbikes, campers and commercial vehicles: write to us with make, model, year and engine and we will tell you if and how we can help.

  • Is remapping safe for the engine?

It depends on the condition of the vehicle and on how it is done. We start with a check of the engine and work within margins compatible with the components. If there are mechanical problems, leaks or a clutch at its limit, it is better to fix them before intervening.

  • Can I go back to the original configuration?

When technically possible we keep the original ECU file and can restore it, for example before selling the car or a dealership check. It depends on the type of control unit.

  • What happens to the warranty?

Changing the software can affect the manufacturer's warranty on the engine and transmission. We talk about it openly before proceeding, so you can decide with all the information.

  • Does remapping reduce consumption?

We cannot guarantee it. Smoother power delivery can help, but real consumption depends on driving style, route and load. That is why we do not quote savings percentages.

  • Does remapping show up at a service?

A software change can leave traces that are recognisable with official tools. We do not promise invisibility: we prefer to be clear and, if you wish, consider restoring the original before a visit to the dealership.

  • How long does it take?

It depends on the vehicle, the type of control unit and how it must be read, through the diagnostic port or with the unit removed. We will tell you the timing after the assessment.

  • Do I need to change anything on the vehicle?

In many cases we work on the standard vehicle. For more demanding requests, work on other components may be needed, such as the exhaust, intercooler or clutch: we assess them together, case by case.

Would you like an assessment for your vehicle?

Write to us with make, model, year and engine: we will tell you whether remapping suits your case and what the steps are.
