ECU remapping is mostly associated with sports cars, but it is just as useful on a work vehicle like a van: more torque at low revs means less strain on the engine under full load, with benefits for drivability and fuel use in everyday work.
The case: a Mercedes-Benz Vito 2.1 CDI
The customer used the van for daily work and wanted more responsiveness on pick-up, especially fully loaded. After checking the vehicle, we proposed a remap calibrated for that specific engine.
The result
The work took the engine from about 163 hp and 360 Nm to about 210 hp and 460 Nm, staying within the safety margins set by the manufacturer for the engine's mechanical components.
